Jeremy White presents InHumana: An American Healthcare Story around South Louisiana
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Baton Rouge, LA — October 3, 2025 — Many Americans love their Medicare Advantage Plans because, unlike millions of other enrollees, they’ve never had critical care denied by artificial intelligence, according to author Jeremy White. The public is invited to learn more as White presents InHumana: An American Healthcare Story at events in Denham Springs, New Orleans, and Baton Rouge this month.
“The launch of InHumana coincides with Medicare open enrollment to alert folks about the hidden perils of Medicare Advantage Plans, like the millions of quiet denials every year for prior authorization of critically needed post-acute care, all determined by unregulated artificial intelligence models,” White explains. “InHumana also reveals how far the exploding $500 billion Medicare Advantage industry will go to hide its dirty secrets, some of which were exposed in an investigation that was a finalist for last year’s Pulitzer Prize for Investigative Reporting.”
White will present his timely examination of the medical-industrial complex at Cavalier House Books in Downtown Denham Springs on Tuesday, Oct. 7, the book’s release date. Octavia Books in Uptown New Orleans will host White for a presentation at 6 p.m on Thursday, Oct. 9. White will present InHumana one week later at East Baton Rouge Parish Library’s new South Branch at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 16.
Months after a stroke and two seizures robbed White’s mom of use of her right side, a federal judge ruled her the victor of their war against Humana for wrongfully denying critically needed care. Their battle, which involved multiple hearings and appeals, is one that fewer than 10 percent of denied Medicare Advantage Plan members like her bother fighting, despite a 90 percent success rate for appeals. White’s genuine humor buoys heavy topics and hard-learned lessons about a nebulous appeals process. His epilogue — which addresses “Deny,” “Defend” and “Depose” — was prompted by a surge of interest in InHumana following the assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
White Lines Press will publish InHumana: An American Healthcare Story as a 172-page paperback, ebook, and audiobook on October 7. All three versions are available for presale through a host of booksellers, including hundreds of partnered independent bookstores across the country, all listed and mapped on InHumanaBook.com.
